Having selected the correct monitor profile under our Monitor/Display preference pane lets Photoshop know how to map our monitor profile to Adobe RGB therefore displaying our images correctly. If you have a CMYK profile that you would like to work under select it under the CMYK dropdown menu, otherwise select U.S. web coated (SWOP). Setup the rest of the settings as show in Figure 3 below


Note: If you work almost exclusively with digital cameras or your images are destined for the web you may want to select sRGB as your working space instead of Adobe RGB (1998).
